PFC Cup Futsal Davao leg gets going at NCCC

DAVAO CITY—Eight teams will take the first crack for a finals slot to the PFC Cup Winners Cup Futsal Davao leg tournament which gets going on Saturday at the NCCC Mall Activity Area.
Metro TMS, Central United, Philippine Rabbies and Nabunturan FC will dispute the top two slots for Bracket A while Fil-Chi FC, Hooligans, Alia Orange FC and Igacos FC battle it out in Bracket B. Only the top two teams after the single round robin eliminations advance to the finals on August 7 of the tournament organized by the Philippine Futsal Clubs in cooperation with Bravetower, City Government of Davao, Phoenix Petroleum, Sun Cellular, NCCC Mall and Futsal de Davao. The tournament is sanctioned by the Davao Football Association.
DFA President Edward “Chaya” Lam, NCCC Mall’s James Galvez, Phoenix Petroleum corporate affairs officer Beethoven Sur, Sports Development Division chief Cholo Elegino and organizer Neil Bravo will lead today’s ceremonial kick-off in a short ceremony before the start of hostilities.
The event, the biggest indoor football tournament in a mall here, has already attracted 20 teams. The other eight teams in the July 23 eliminatins are S and G Ventures, Team Smileys, Montevista, and UM Tagum for Bracket C, Black Knights, Inter Davao United, Solido FC and Malita FC.
In the women’s division, DDS, Solido FC A, Solido FC B, and Black Knights.
Giving corporate support to the event are official residence Green Windows, FTC Towers, Frenzy Condoms, Young and Active Pinay, EDCO and Sons Tent Rentals, S and G Ventures, Columbia Computer Center, Acer, Enervon HP, Enervon Tablets, Alaxan, Valvoline Lubricants, Probinsya, Buffet Palace, Cherifer Premium, Star Sports Korea, The Village Sport, Nivea and official outfitter Accel.
“It’s a wide open race. The teams are about even,” said match commissioner Alex Adolfo.
The event, which serves as the official qualifying tournament for the PFC Cup Winners Cup National Finals this November in Manila, will be staging two eliminations on July 16 and 23 with the top four teams advancing to the Finals on August 7.
