Malita, Lupon shock city rivals in PFC Cup Futsal

Two provincial teams conquered their city counterparts to emerge the top qualifiers in a spate of surprising twists in the second round of eliminations of the PFC Cup Winners Cup Futsal Davao Leg at the NCCC Mall Activity Area.

Malita FC scored two late goals in their bruising duel against Inter Davao United to score a 5-3 victory in the final match of the day which also determined the last two qualifiers from Bracket D. The win shoved Malita FC, backed up by Vice Mayor Bradley Bautista, to the top of Bracket D with 2 wins and a draw good for 7 points while the loss booted the Valvoline-sponsored Inter Davao United out of the finals with 1 win and 2 losses.

The match also decided the fate of idle Black Knights FC which nailed the last finals berth with 1-1-1 win-draw-loss slate (5 points), knocking out Solido FC and Inter Davao United from the last slot to the August 7 finals of the tournament organized by the Philippine Futsal Clubs in cooperation with Bravetower Promotions, City Government of Davao, Phoenix Petroleum, Sun Cellular, NCCC Mall and Futsal de Davao.

The event is sanctioned by the Davao Football Association (DFA) as part of its comprehensive football program under President Edward “Chaya” Lam.
