PFF Suzuki Under-23 South Minda C'ships on April 1

The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) – SUZUKI  U – 23 Southern  Mindanao Cluster Championships will kick off on 1 April 2011 at the Tionko Football Grounds, Bolton Riverside, Quimpo Blvd., at 1:00 PM. Davao FA will play in the opening game following the opening ceremony. The opponent will be determined during the Managers’ Meeting at 9:00 AM on 1 April 2011.   Participating are teams from Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, and Davao City.  PFF Competitions Department Head Cyril Dofitas and officials from Suzuki Phils.,  are expected to attend.  Mayor Inday Sara Duterte has been invited to grace the opening ceremony.
The U - 19 Championships will be at 3:30 PM featuring Davao FA - the opponent to be determined during the Managers' Meeting.
This event is in cooperation with the Philippine National Red Cross,  Task Force Davao, the Davao City Police Office, Medvil Farms, Barangay Mintal, and UP Mindanao.

2:00 PM WT-FM vs Medvil
                Medvil won the 1st semi-finals game (4 – 3) via penalty shoot-out.  Score during regulation is (1 – 1). Goal scorer for WT – FM is Joven Benitez (111’) and Leo Abunas scored the tying goal (113’) during the extension of the game.

4:00 PM Columbia vs Hooligans (4 – 2). Goal scorers for Columbia FC are Roberto Acog (29’), Emardino Polo (37’), Mamadali Abdulsazam (57’), and Aldin Tiboron (90+4’).  Scorers are Sylvestre Sarco (16’) and Jason Mortillero (48’).


The Club Managers of the Ebocci – Davao Premier League agreed that Columbia will represent Davao FA in the Southern Mindanao cluster of PFF – Smart Club Championships being organized by the Philippine Football Federation on 1 – 3 April 2011.  Medvil FC will represent Davao FA in the U23 PFF – Suzuki Championships.

Correction: The winner of the Medvil – Columbia game will represent Davao FA in the Southern Mindanao cluster of PFF – Smart Club Championships being organized by the Philippine Football Federation. Date of the Finals of the Ebocci – Davao Premier League and the PFF – SMART Club Championships will be determined later.

TRY –OUTS for the National Youth Team (Men and Women)

The Philippine Football Federation will conduct try – outs for the National Team at the Tionko Football Grounds, Quimpo Blvd., Davao City for the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Youth Championship on September 2011 in Myanmar.  The schedule of the selection in Davao City is on 28 and 29 March 2011 (4:30 PM).
Conducting the try – outs is  Maor Rozen, an Uruguayan-Spanish UEFA "A" License Coach,  appointed Head Coach for the Philippine National U19 Men's Football Team. Players must bring NSO – certified birth certificate, 4 passport size photos, and a signed waiver.
Only players selected on the first day (28 March) are required to attend the second session on 29 March 2011. The selected players on the second day will then take part in a 7 – 15 day training camp in April and May.
This is the last leg of the scheduled try – outs for the U-19 National Football Team.

For Girls born 1994 – 1996, to compete in the Arafura Games in Darwin, Australia on 7 – 14 May 2011, try – outs will be on 30 March 2011. Those interested must bring the following: NSO certified birth certificate, passport copy (if available), and 8 pass port size pictures.
Conducting the selection is Coach Buda Bautista.
Other schedule of tryouts: Cebu on 27 March and Bacolod on 29 March.

Medvil FC defeats WT-FM in penalty shootout

Medvil FC defeated WT – FM (4 – 3) via penalty shootout to win the ACER U23 Cup. Medvil will represent Davao FA In the PFF – Suzuki Southern Mindanao Cluster Championships to be hosted by Davao City on 1 – 3 April 2011. Davao del Norte FA and Compostela Valley FA are the two (2) other participating teams.

On 22 March Medvil edged Columbia FC (1 – 0) as Raymond Paresa scored in the 76th minute to put Medvil in the Finals. WT – FM won over KMMPC (2 – 0) in the other match.

The semi-finals of EBOCCI – Davao Premier League will be on 27 March 2011 with the following games:

PFF Mindanao Festival of Football ends at Deca Homes, PFF coach to further evaluate outstanding players

The PFF Mindanao Festival of Football ended with a skills drill on 20 March 2011 at the Deca Homes Resort and Residences Field which saw the participation of teams from Butuan City, Agusan del Sur, Sultan Kudarat, North Cotabato, and Davao City. The festival aims to identify and select players for the national team that will participate in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U13 Boys Festival of Football in May 2011 in Malaysia and the AFC U14 Girls Festival of Football in June 2011 in Vietnam. Davao and Butuan City are the only teams in the Girls U 14 category.

Coach Oliver Colina was impressed with the performance of several players which he selected to be further evaluated. The list includes the following candidates: Darios Diamante, Javier Romero-Salas, Lorenzo Magno, Miguel Aquino, and Jake Bryan Ferolino of Davao; Eric Pocon Jr. of Agusan del Sur; Mark Platon, Raymond Suano, Lawrence John Camiring, and Rene Boy Palabrica of North Cotabato.
For the Girls U14, Coach Colina cited Janna Barcemo, Nina Ricci Yanto, Mary Joy Indac, Rheza Caminade, Ester Megami Vilela, Gabrielle del Fierro, and Nikka Corrales to be included in the next stage of the selection process.
 Nina Ricci Llanto (Catalunan Grande), Gabby del Fierro (Ateneo), and Janna Barcemo (Ateneo) are part of the national team that took part in the 2010 edition of the games.

The next selection will be on 25  - 27 March 2011 in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

All teams are required to have 22 players. Games are divided into 3 20-minute periods. In the first 20 minute – the first set of 11 players are fielded. In the second period, the second set of 11 players who did not participate in the first period will must be fielded. During the third period, the coach fields a combined team from the 1st and 2nd period. Substitutes are allowed only during injuries.

During the opening ceremony, balls were turned over to the participating teams. The balls are courtesy of the Japanese Football Association. A 2 day referees refresher course was conducted by Mr. Jaime Nicolau for the officiating officials of the festival.

This event is in cooperation with the Department of Education, Deca Homes Resort and Residences, Barangay Mintal, Barangay Tacunan, Mintal Police Station, 69th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, Office of the City Mayor, Medvil Farms, Inc., UP Mindanao, and Congressman Isidro Ungab.

Acer Under-23 Cup kicks off March 22


The ACER U-23 Cup will kick off on 22 March 2011.  
The schedule of games: 
2:00 PM WT – FM vs KMMPC and 4:00 PM Medvil vs Columbia. Format is knock-out system. The champion will represent Davao FA in the PFF –Suzuki U23 Southern Mindanao Cluster Finals on 1 – 3 April 2011 to be hosted by Davao City. Members of the Davao U19 team will be selected from this tournament and represent Davao FA in the U19 Southern Mindanao Cluster Finals on the same date.
