Davao footballers unite for DFAid at Crocs field

Support came as far as football associations from Lupon in Davao Oriental as Davao’s football community play for one significant event and for a laudable cause on Sunday with the staging of DFAid or Davao Football Aid which aims to gather contributions for the flashflood victims of Davao.

“We have received several calls and messages for support, some coming from as far as Davao Oriental,” said volunteer organizer Neil Bravo.

DFAid is a project of the Davao Football Association in cooperation with the Davao Football Community, ABS-CBN Davao and Bravetower Promotions. Davao Football Association president Edward “Chaya” Lam called on all clubs and stakeholders to support the fund-raising project last Sunday at the Tionko Field.

The DFAid fun games will be staged at the Crocs Football Field at the Crocodile Park inside the vast Riverfront property along Maa Diversion Road. Games start at 2:00 in the afternoon and will end with the formal turnover of donation to representatives of the ABS-CBN Davao for distribution to the victims of the June 29 flodding in Davao, some of which are football players.

“There are football players who are flood victims themselves and we wish to help them,” said Christian Ea of the Crocodile Park football field management team and head of the Rules Committee of the DFA.

The DFAid will be accepting cash and in-kind donations during the fun games from all football aficionados as well as the rest of Davao’s sporting community.

Around 200 players are expected to take part in this charity event. DFAid is inviting all kind-hearted Davaoenos to come on Sunday to take part even if they do not play football.

Green Windows supports PFC Cup Futsal

Green Windows Dormitel, a subsidiary of the FTC group of companies, has joined the corporate backers
of the keenly-awaited PFC Cup Winners Cup Futsal Davao leg tournament which reels off on July 16 at
the NCCC Mall Activity Area.

Green Windows thus becomes the official residence of the tournament organized by the Philippine
Futsal Committee in cooperation with Bravetower Promotions, City Government of Davao, Phoenix
Petroleum, Sun Cellular, NCCC Mall and Futsal de Davao. The tournament is sanctioned by the Davao
Football Association.

Also throwing support to the event are official outfitter Accel, Star Sports Korea, Frenzy Condoms,
EDCO and Sons Tent Rentals, S and G Ventures, Columbia Computer Center, Acer, Enervon HP, Enervon
Tablets, Alaxan, The Village Sport, and Nivea.

The first ever futsal tournament to be played in a mall here has already attracted 21 teams with at least
five more knocking on the door as waitlisted teams. Playing in the men’s division are Metro TMS, Club
34, Inter Davao United, Central United, Hooligans, Philippine Rabbies, Alia Orange FC, Igacos FC, S and G
Ventures, Black Knights, Team Smileys, Solido FC, Montevista FC, University of Mindanao-Tagum, Malita
FC and Nabunturan FC.

In the women’s division, DDS, Philippine Women’s College, ADDU-Solido FC, Black Knights and Cagayan
de Oro FC.

Five teams are in the waitlist and will be taking the spot of any team that backs out. These are PNP
Davao del Norte, Maco FC, Belisario FC, Oi Rogers and Lupon FC.

“We are limited to only 8 teams per eliminations per division. So far, the two eliminations for men are
already filled up. The women’s division has three slots open,” said local organizer Neil Bravo.

The event, which serves as the official qualifying tournament for the PFC Cup Winners Cup National
Finals this November in Manila, will be staging two eliminations on July 16 and 23 with the top four
teams advancing to the Finals on August 7.

The tournament’s media partners are Business Mirror, Daily Tribune, Mindanao Daily Mirror, OneSport

Phoenix supports Winner’s Cup Futsal Davao Leg





Phoenix Petroleum Philippines will sponsor the PFC Cup Winner’s Cup Futsal Davao Leg eliminations on July 16 and 23, 2011, as well as the finals on August 7, 2011 that will be held in NCCC Mall Davao.
Forty teams from different places in the south are expected to gather for the event with 15 players per team. The Cup is open to both men and women (no age restrictions).
The top four teams in the eliminations will face each other in the Winner’s Cup Davao Leg Finals. The Davao Leg champion will compete in the National Finals in Manila on November 25, 2011, with the chance to represent the country in the International Futsal Tournament in Belgium.
The Davao Leg is the fourth leg of the PFC Cup, with the first two legs held in Metro Manila and the other in Naga City.(pr)

Cherifer Football Festival set

The Davao Football Association, Inc., will hold the Cherifer Football Festival on 09 – 10 July 2011 at the Tionko Football Grounds, Bolton Riverside, Quimpo Blvd., Davao City. The categories are:

Each team shall be composed of 10 players. Opening program will be at 8:00 AM and the games will follow immediately.

Deadline of confirmation is on 7 July, 5:00 PM, at the DFA Clubhouse, Tionko Football Grounds.

This festival & tournament is part of DFA's support for the the implementation of the concepts of FIFA's grassroots program which will be the first of its kind in the country. This actvity will not only include competition, but also encouraging all participants to play as much as football games as possible and experiencing the fun in playing the game guided by coaches trained in the FIFA Grasroots Pro-active course.

The 3rd FIFA Grassroots Pro-Active Course – Mindanao Region started Monday (04 July 2011) with 31  participants coming from the various provinces and cities in Mindanao. The sessions formally opened at the Tionko Field with Davao FA president Edward Lam welcoming the participants. Mr. Aris Caslib, the Technical Director of the Philippine Football Consur  Federation will be handling the course.  He is assisted by Mindanao Coordinator, Mr. Manreza. They will be joined later on by FIFA Course Director, Mr. Takeshi Ono who will stress the organization and preparation of a festival.

DFAid: Davao footballers play for flood victims

DAVAO CITY—Around 200 football players from this city will converge this Sunday for what they call as
DFAid—a one-day football festival aimed at raising funds for Davao’s flood victims.

DFAid is a project of the Davao Football Association in cooperation with the Davao Football Community,
ABS-CBN Davao and Bravetower Promotions. Davao Football Association president Edward “Chaya” Lam
called on all clubs and stakeholders to support the fund-raising project in an impromptu meeting last
Sunday at the Tionko Field.

The call for DFAid raised positive response from Davao’s football community. The DFAid tournament will
be staged at the Crocs Football Field at the Crocodile Park inside the sprawling Riverfront property along
Maa Diversion Road.

Games start at 2:00 in the afternoon and will end with the formal turnover of donation to
representatives of the ABS-CBN Davao for distribution to the victims of the July 29 flashfloods in Matina.

The DFAid will be accepting cash and in-kind donations during the fun games from all football
aficionados as well as the rest of Davao’s sporting community.

“We hope to give the message to everyone that the sports community of Davao is not only concerned
about playing games. We are also here to lend a hand and share our blessings,” said DFAid volunteer
organizer Neil Bravo.

21 teams join Futsal Winners Cup, 4 slots left

DAVAO CITY—Nabunturan FC completed the 16-team cast for the men’s draw in the PFC Cup Winners
Cup Futsal Davao Leg with still two weeks to go before the first eliminations to be held at the NCCC Mall
Activity Area.

With Nabunturan’s entry, the cast is already complete for the much anticipated men’s division while
three more slots are available in the women’s division of this event organized by the Philippine Futsal
Committee, Bravetower Promotions, and Futsal de Davao, and sanctioned as an official tournament by
the Davao Football Association.

Others playing in the men’s division are Metro TMS, Club 34, Inter Davao United, Central United,
Hooligans, Philippine Rabbies, Alia Orange FC, Igacos FC, S and G Ventures, Black Knights, Team Smileys,
Solido FC, Montevista FC, University of Mindanao-Tagum, Malita FC and Nabunturan FC.
