Mindanao Travel Channel, Green Windows support Urban Street Team Freestyle Football in Davao
Mindanao Travel Channel will be the official presentor of the Urban Street Team-Singapore Freestyle
Football show and clinic which will be staged in Davao City from November 15-20.
Neil Bravo of the organizing Bravetower Promotions said the Singaporean team’s visit to Davao will be
officially sponsored by MTC which is popular here among television audience as Mindanao’s knowledge
and discovery channel and aired over Channel 2 on Sky Cable.
“MTC is shifting gears towards covering more events for Mindanao and this includes sports like
football. We are bringing in the Singaporean freestyle football team to promote Davao to our neighbors
especially with the advent of the direct flights from Singapore to this city. In return, they will also be
our endorsers in Singapore and hopefully this synergy will produce an increase in tourist arrivals,” said
Bravo.
Green Windows Dormitel also became the official residence of the world-renowned UST squad who is
expected to do a campus tour in major Davao schools and in nearby Kapatagan National High School in
Davao del Sur.
“We are happy to partner with Bravetower and MTC in hosting the Urban Street Team,” said MJ
Escudero, marketing head of Green Windows which is a division of FTC Tower, developers of the soon-
to-be-constructed skyrocketing Aeon Towers.
The Singaporeans are the same group who performed the opening number for the 2010 Youth Olympics

Cherifer Kids Beach Football starts at Bluejaz
The much-anticipated Cherifer Kids Beach Football blasted off the sands of Bluejaz Resort and Waterpark
in the Island Garden City of Samal with some 30 teams crowding the hunt for the four titles at stake on Saturday.
Leading the hunt are Ateneo de Davao University and home squad Bluejaz FC with Black Knights as
darkhorse. Ateneo and Bluejaz are locked in a growing rivalry in the local kiddies football scene and this
weekend’s event looms as another chapter to their storied rivalry.
At stake in this two-day event sponsored by Cherifer PGM 10-22 Multivitamins and organized by Bravetower
Promotions are the Under-14 Boys and Girls titles, Under-12 and Under-10. Ateneo, Bluejaz and Black
Knights are entered in the Under 10 and Under 12 categories.
“It’s going to be an exciting football weekend ahead. It’s a good break for the kids and their family,” said
Neil Bravo of the organizing Bravetower Promotions.
Tournament Director Alex Adolfo said more teams are expected to sign up for the tournament. Thus far,
Ateneo has two teams in the Under-12 division and one in the Under-10 while Bluejaz has entered one
team in each division.
Other teams in the Under-10 division are Crocs FC, Sakya FC, Southpoint A and B, Black Knights A and B,
and SWAT. In the Under-12 division, also entered are Black Knights, SOS, Southpoint, and Sakya FC A and
B. In the Under-14 Boys, Valdez FC and three teams from Team IRBO have signed up.
The tournament is sanctioned by the Davao Football Association (DFA) in cooperation with the host

Cherifer kids beach football at Bluejaz
This one’s for the kids.
It’s the kids turn to score goals while enjoying the beach scenery when the Cherifer Kids Beach Football
Tournament hits the sand pitch of Bluejaz Resort and Waterpark on August 20-21.
Neil Bravo of the organizing Bravetower Promotions announced the staging of the event during the
weekly Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Sports Forum at the Tower Inn.
“We are glad to come up with this tournament which has been a clamor of many kids clubs since we
brought beach football back last June. With Cherifer backing us up and Bluejaz hosting the event, this is
a dream tournament for kids wishing to play beach football,” Bravo said.
Bravetower is the same outfit that brought the successful PFC Cup Winners Cup Futsal Davao leg
recently at the NCCC Mall Davao.
The early bird who have thus far expressed their intention to play are SWAT, Black Knights, Bluejaz,
Sakya and Ateneo de Davao University for the Under-10 division; Stadium, Ateneo, SOS, Bluejaz and
Sakya FC for the Under-12 division; and Team Erbo, Black Knights, and Bluejaz for the Under-14 Boys;
and Ateneo for the Under-14 Girls.
The event is endorsed by the Davao Football Association and the Davao Norte Football Association.
Cherifer PGM 10-22 Vitamins is the chief sponsor of the event.
Registration fee for the tournament is P1,500 per team which includes free boat rides, entrance, and use

PFC Cup Futsal Final stage on Sunday at NCCC Mall
DAVAO CITY—It has all come down to this. The top eight squads in the men’s division and the best four teams in the women’s side—all for one coveted title and a spot to the National Finals.
With this, the stage is set for the knockout phase of the exciting PFC Cup Winners Cup Futsal-Davao Leg on Sunday at the NCCC Mall Activity Area here where the action is expected to be fierce.
The quarterfinal stage begins with an interesting battle between two sister squads but for sure, there will be no love from the opening whistle between Group A top qualifier Metro TMS and Group C no. 2 S and G Ventures as they seek for the first ticket to the semis. The other match-ups will pit surprise package Lupon United, the topnotcher in Group C, against Group D no. 2 Philippine Rabbies, Group B top qualifier Hooligans against Group D no. 2 Black Knights, and Group D no.1 Malita FC against Group B no. 2 Alia Orange FC.
The survivors of the quarterfinals advance to the semifinals where the winners eventually clash in the winner-take-all finals of the tournament organized by the Philippine Futsal Clubs in cooperation with Bravetower Promotions, City Government of Davao, Phoenix Petroleum, Sun Cellular, NCCC Mall and Futsal de Davao.
In the women’s division, Solido FC-B takes on Black Knights in the first semifinals while its sister team Solido FC-Team A face a veteran-laden DDS squad in the other semifinals setto.
The men’s and women’s champion will earn the right to represent Davao in the National Finals on November 26 in Manila where a spot to the international Futsal tournament in Belgium await the national champs.
Also at stake are the individual prizes for the Phoenix MVP award, Sun Cellular Best Goalkeeper and Frenzy Best Defender for both men’s and women’s divisions. PFC President Rex Velasquez will be joining special guest Atty. Raymond Zorilla of Phoenix Petroleum in the awarding ceremonies with City Sports Development division chief Cholo Elegino and DFA President Edward “Chaya” Lam.

PFC Cup Futsal Davao: 8 more teams vie for final slots
The hunt for four more slots to the finals continue on July 23 as eight more squads see action in the second round of eliminations of the PFC Cup Winners Cup Futsal Davao Leg at the NCCC Mall Activity Area.
Showing their wares today are S and G Ventures, Team Smileys, Montevista, and UM Tagum for Bracket C, Black Knights, Inter Davao United, Solido FC and Malita FC.
In the women’s division, DDS, Solido FC A, Solido FC B, and Black Knights will engage each other in a
round robin affair to determine the seeding in the finals.
“It’s going to be another round of intense action. Football fans should not miss the action this weekend. It’s going to be tough as all teams will surely give their all to make it to the finals,” said organizer Neil Bravo.
Saturday’s top four finishers will join early qualifiers Metro TMS, Hooligans, Philippine Rabbies and Alia Orange FC which bagged the four slots at stake in the first eliminations last Saturday.
Only the top two teams after the single round robin eliminations advance to the finals on August 7 of the tournament organized by the Philippine Futsal Clubs in cooperation with Bravetower Promotions, City Government of Davao, Phoenix Petroleum, Sun Cellular, NCCC Mall and Futsal de Davao. The tournament is sanctioned by the Davao Football Association.
The biggest indoor football tournament in a mall by far here featured the innovation protective shock nets installed around the playing area to protect the mall vicinities and the crowd without limiting the intense action.
Saturday's action will also feature the second encounter between the kiddies futsal squads of Bluejaz FC and Black Knights FC in the aperitif at 11:00 am.

PFC Cup Futsal Davao leg gets going at NCCC
DAVAO CITY—Eight teams will take the first crack for a finals slot to the PFC Cup Winners Cup Futsal Davao leg tournament which gets going on Saturday at the NCCC Mall Activity Area.
Metro TMS, Central United, Philippine Rabbies and Nabunturan FC will dispute the top two slots for Bracket A while Fil-Chi FC, Hooligans, Alia Orange FC and Igacos FC battle it out in Bracket B. Only the top two teams after the single round robin eliminations advance to the finals on August 7 of the tournament organized by the Philippine Futsal Clubs in cooperation with Bravetower, City Government of Davao, Phoenix Petroleum, Sun Cellular, NCCC Mall and Futsal de Davao. The tournament is sanctioned by the Davao Football Association.
DFA President Edward “Chaya” Lam, NCCC Mall’s James Galvez, Phoenix Petroleum corporate affairs officer Beethoven Sur, Sports Development Division chief Cholo Elegino and organizer Neil Bravo will lead today’s ceremonial kick-off in a short ceremony before the start of hostilities.

Davao footballers unite for DFAid at Crocs field
Support came as far as football associations from Lupon in Davao Oriental as Davao’s football community play for one significant event and for a laudable cause on Sunday with the staging of DFAid or Davao Football Aid which aims to gather contributions for the flashflood victims of Davao.
“We have received several calls and messages for support, some coming from as far as Davao Oriental,” said volunteer organizer Neil Bravo.
DFAid is a project of the Davao Football Association in cooperation with the Davao Football Community, ABS-CBN Davao and Bravetower Promotions. Davao Football Association president Edward “Chaya” Lam called on all clubs and stakeholders to support the fund-raising project last Sunday at the Tionko Field.
The DFAid fun games will be staged at the Crocs Football Field at the Crocodile Park inside the vast Riverfront property along Maa Diversion Road. Games start at 2:00 in the afternoon and will end with the formal turnover of donation to representatives of the ABS-CBN Davao for distribution to the victims of the June 29 flodding in Davao, some of which are football players.
“There are football players who are flood victims themselves and we wish to help them,” said Christian Ea of the Crocodile Park football field management team and head of the Rules Committee of the DFA.
The DFAid will be accepting cash and in-kind donations during the fun games from all football aficionados as well as the rest of Davao’s sporting community.
Around 200 players are expected to take part in this charity event. DFAid is inviting all kind-hearted Davaoenos to come on Sunday to take part even if they do not play football.

Football goes to NCCC Mall with PFC Cup
DAVAO CITY--And now, football at the mall.
Yes, folks, the country’s new-found love for football moves up to a new level with the staging of the PFC Cup Futsal Winners Cup Davao leg at the NCCC Mall.
The event, which serves as the official qualifying tournament for the PFC Cup Winners Cup National Finals this November in Manila, will be staging two eliminations on July 16 and 23 with the top four teams advancing to the Finals on August 7.
Local organizer Neil Bravo bared the staging of this keenly-awaited event on Thursday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) weekly sports forum at the Tower Inn.
“It’s amazing that in two days after we sent out invitations to the clubs in Davao, 14 teams responded in the men’s draw and 4 confirmed in the women’s draw,” Bravo said.
There will only be 8 slots available during each eliminations and only two slots remained in the men’s division as of Wednesday. The women’s division has 4 more slots remaining.
Those who have signed up for the men’s division are Metro TMS, Club 34, Central United FC, Hooligans, Philippine Rabbies, Alia Orange, Team Asbal, UM FC, S and G Ventures, Black Knights, Team Smileys, Solido FC, Montevista FC, Tagum City, Columbia FC and Bluejaz FC. In the women’s division, Ateneo de Davao, Solido FC, DDS, Cagayan de Oro, Black Knights and Philippine Women’s College have confirmed.

ABS-CBN supports beach football
Television giant ABS-CBN Davao has confirmed its support for the exciting 2011 Kicksand Beach Football, the biggest beach sports event this year covering all three major islands of the country.
ABS CBN Davao marketing manager Razelle Rodriguez and F1 Event Solutions Executive Director Neil Bravo announced the agreement for media partnership a few days before the event’s Visayas leg kicks off in Boracay Island this weekend.
The Boracay leg serves as the Visayas stage of the beach football trilogy organized by the Beach Football Association of the Philippines and supported by the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Football Federation.
Subic Bay Waterfront hosted the first leg last April 16-17, La Isla Bonita Resort Boracay will take its turn this weekend while the final leg for Mindanao will be staged on June 11-12 at the scenic Bluejaz Resort and Waterpark in Samal Island.
The tournament, supported by major backers NIVEA Sun ad SEAIR, is open to all football clubs and will be part of a selection process for the men’s and women’s national beach football team. Manila FC won the men’s title and Libertas FC took the women’s crown in Subic.
BFAP President Mike Athab said that teams from Aklan, Iloilo, Bacolod and Cebu will be vying for honors in the Visayas leg in Boracay.
Meantime, 106.1 FM Radio Boracay will be the official radio partner in Boracay. This was confirmed by station manager Nigel Gamalong of Radio Boracay, the leading FM radio station in the resort island. The other media partners for Kicksand are GMTV, 105.9 Mix FM, Mindanao Daily Mirror, Sunstar Davao and Aksyon Sports Radyo TV5.
