HOLCIM Football

7^th Mayor Inday Sara & VM Rody Duterte Cup: HOLCIM inter High School Football League will have its opening on 03 December 2011 at the Deca Homes Resort and Residences Country Club at 8:00 AM.  For the first time the opening ceremony will be hosted outside the Tionko Football Grounds to attract more teams from the third and second districts of the City.

Expected to participate are the Calinan NHS, Baguio, Gen. Roxas NHS, and Holy Cross of Calinan  from Calinan and Baguio Districts. Mintal Comprehensive, Sto. Niňo NHS, MIntal Annex, Good Soil Academy, and Holy Child School of Davao – Green Meadows will compete for Tugbok District. One winner each from the combined Calinan / Baguio and Tugbok Districts will then advance to the Davao City Finals.

Invited in the opening ceremony are Mayor Inday Sara Duterte, Engr. Cilor P. Guevarra of Holcim, Tacunan Bgy Capt. Algin de la Pena, Mintal Bgy. Capt. Ramon Bargamento II, and Deca Homes Resort Country Club Manager Giovanni Paulo Soo.

Other venues are in Toril and Lasang in the second district.

The tournament will have two divisions, with Division “A” having 6 time champion EMAR Learning Center, Ateneo High School, Davao City NHS, and Calinan NHS which will be the regular 11 a-side game.  This will be a double round robin format with the team garnering the most number of points winning the tournament.  Division “B” is for developing or newer teams / schools involved in the football program.

Division “B” is a 9 a-side competition with winners from Calinan /Baguio, Tugbok, Toril, Lasang, and 1^st District eliminations playing a Davao City wide championship.

The PFF Mindanao Festival of Football ended with a skills drill on 20 March 2011 at the Deca Homes Resort and Residences Field which saw the participation of teams from Butuan City, Agusan del Sur, Sultan Kudarat, North Cotabato, and Davao City. The festival aims to identify and select players for the national team that will participate in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U13 Boys Festival of Football in May 2011 in Malaysia and the AFC U14 Girls Festival of Football in June 2011 in Vietnam. Davao and Butuan City are the only teams in the Girls U 14 category.

Coach Oliver Colina was impressed with the performance of several players which he selected to be further evaluated. The list includes the following candidates: Darios Diamante, Javier Romero-Salas, Lorenzo Magno, Miguel Aquino, and Jake Bryan Ferolino of Davao; Eric Pocon Jr. of Agusan del Sur; Mark Platon, Raymond Suano, Lawrence John Camiring, and Rene Boy Palabrica of North Cotabato.

For the Girls U14, Coach Colina cited Janna Barcemo, Nina Ricci Yanto, Mary Joy Indac, Rheza Caminade, Ester Megami Vilela, Gabrielle del Fierro, and Nikka Corrales to be included in the next stage of the selection process.

 Nina Ricci Llanto (Catalunan Grande), Gabby del Fierro (Ateneo), and Janna Barcemo (Ateneo) are part of the national team that took part in the 2010 edition of the games.

The next selection will be on 25  - 27 March 2011 in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

All teams are required to have 22 players. Games are divided into 3 20-minute periods. In the first 20 minute – the first set of 11 players are fielded. In the second period, the second set of 11 players who did not participate in the first period will must be fielded. During the third period, the coach fields a combined team from the 1^st and 2^nd period. Substitutes are allowed only during injuries.

During the opening ceremony, balls were turned over to the participating teams. The balls are courtesy of the Japanese Football Association. A 2 day referees refresher course was conducted by Mr. Jaime Nicolau for the officiating officials of the festival.

Davao Football Association will host the Mindanao Regional Festival of Football on 18 – 20 March 2011 at the Deca Homes Resort and Residences Country Club Field in Tacunan. The festival aims to identify and select players for the national team that will participate in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U13 Boys Festival of Football in May 2011 in Malaysia and the AFC U14 Girls Festival of Football in June 2011 in Vietnam. Nina Ricci Llanto (Catalunan Grande), Gabby del Fierro (Ateneo), and Janna Barcemo (Ateneo) are part of the national team that took part in the 2010 edition of the games.

Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Sultan Kudarat, North Cotabato and Davao City will take part in the Boys event. Agusan del Norte and Davao City are the only teams in the Girls division.

Opening and kick off ceremony is scheduled on 18 March 2011 at 8:30 AM with third district Congressman Isidro T. Ungab as the guest of honor. Mintal Barangay Captain Mr. Ramon Bargamento II and Tacunan Barangay Captain Algen Asobe dela Pena will welcome the participants.

The Philippine Football Federation will send Mr. Oliver Colina, the head coach of the U13 team to personally select the players. Mr. Consur Manreza will be the Tournament Commissioner and Mr. Alberto Honasan (former Mr. Football) will represent PFF.

There will be a Referee’s Refresher course on 15 – 16 March at the Tionko Football Grounds to update them on the rules of the Festival of Football. This will be conducted by Mr. Jaime Nicolau of Negros Occidental FA.  There will be 8 referees from Davao FA who will attend this course headed by Referees’ Committee chair, Aaron Bantilan.

The team managers’ meeting will be on 17 March 2011 at 7:00 PM to be held at the Mintal Barangay Hall.
